Jackie L. Baugh, 90, Rock Island, IL passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA. There will be a visitation from 1-3:00 PM on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, IL. The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 9, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial at Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Moline Church of Christ. Jack was born on April 28, 1934 to Sterling and Ova (Cates) Baugh in Clinton, Arkansas. He grew up in Arkansas and Missouri before moving to attend the University of Iowa where he earned a Pharmacy degree. Jack served in the United States Army and was stationed at Ray Barracks in Friedberg, Germany. He enjoyed telling people that he was leaving the base just as Elvis was arriving in 1958. After being honorably discharged, he returned to the Quad Cities and on April 17, 1960 was united in marriage to Linda Hughes-Kells. The couple made their home in Rock Island. They were members of the Moline Church of Christ. During his 50-year career, Jack worked at various retail pharmacies in the area including CVS, Walgreens and Walmart. Jack was a hard worker in and out of the pharmacy. He and his dad built the family home where he was still living. In his spare time, Jack enjoyed watching sports rooting for the Hawkeyes and Chicago teams. Jack was a quiet man but loved being around people and was often involved at church activities- even ziplining when he was by far the oldest participant. He is remembered as devoutly religious and always very patient. He is survived by his children, Leon Baugh and Christine Edwards; grandchildren, Ashley (Mohammed) Zalabani and Kristen Edwards; great-grandchildren, Rami, Adam and Sami Zalabani; and Aiden Estep; siblings, Richard Baugh and Wanda Young.
