Jacquelyn "Jackie" Rae Mooers, 90, of Sherrard, IL, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024, at her home, surrounded by family singing her into heaven.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2024, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan, IL. A Rosary will be recited at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan, with visitation following until 4:00 p.m. A private family burial will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Milan Christian Food Pantry.
Jackie was born April 15, 1934, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Leroy and Evelyn (Everest) Martin. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School, Class of 1952. Jackie Rae and Keith O'Brien Mooers were united in marriage on November 29, 1952, in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. She enjoyed following high school wrestling. She was instrumental in the founding of the Bettendorf Wrestling Club and Bulldog Bi-State wrestling tournament. Other interests included fishing, gardening, and mushrooming. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Kevin (Judy) Mooers, Cañon City, CO, Carrie (Victor) Weihler, Sherrard, IL, and Neil (Cindy) Mooers, Delafield, WI; grandchildren, Laura (Denis) Ford, Jeff Mooers, Jamisue (Mike) Plucinski, Stuart (Tracy Cavanaugh) Weihler, Andrew (Lexi) Weihler, Kara (Jamey) Meyer, Michelle (Travis) Eddy, Annika (Nathan) Wilson, Kathryn Mooers, and Rachel (Tim) Daniels; sixteen great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband Keith; grandson, Matthew Mooers; daughter-in-law, Eileen Mooers; parents; and brother, Gene Martin.
