James T. Barnes, 81, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 at UPH-Trinity, Rock Island.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 19, 2016 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1501 6th Ave., East Moline. Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.

James was born on August 23, 1934 in Camden, MS, the son of Will and Alice (Harris) Barnes. He worked as a machine operator at Red Jacket Pump in Davenport.

James is survived by his daughters, Catherine and Wanda Barnes; sister, Allie Mae (Pearl) Booth; three grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a special niece Katie Booth. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Barnes Jr.; daughter, Rosie Barnes; and two brothers.
