James A. Breuwet, 89, of Wildwood, FL., formerly of Bettendorf, IA passed away Tuesday, July 30th, 2024 at Cornerstone Hospice The Villages, FL.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen Breuwet and sister, Susan Breuwet. He is survived by his three children and seven grandchildren: Robert Breuwet and his wife Sarah of Urbandale, IA, and their daughters, Lindsay and Vanessa; Paula Cohen of Denver, CO and her children, Emily and Samuel Cohen; and Debbie Snow of Wildwood, FL and her children, James, Zachary and Isabella. Jim is also survived by his brother, Jack Breuwet and his wife, Darlene of Rock Island, IL.
Jim was born December 27th, 1934 in Rock Island, IL. He married Karen Hulsbrink on September 16, 1961. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Jim was a great friend to many and enjoyed his years at Alcoa. He is a veteran of the Army. He and his wife, Karen moved to Florida from Bettendorf in 1997 to escape the snow. His enjoyments included bowling, line dancing, visiting Disney World, golf, pickle ball, tennis, watching Cubs baseball and spending time with his grandchildren. Jim will be missed by many and remembered for his enduring spirit, tenacity and positive attitude.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm on Thursday, August 15th at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. A funeral mass will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Bettendorf on August 16th at 10:00am. Interment will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
