James Henry Clark, 74, of Rock Island, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity, R.I. Funeral services for Mr. Clark will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in care of the family.
James was born on August 26, 1941 in Winston Co., Mississippi, a son of Walter Clark, Sr. and Henrietta Clay Clark. He married Annie Richardson on June 17, 1967 in Rock Island. James was a Crane Operator at Alcoa for 30 years, retiring in 2001. James enjoyed fishing and working his garden. He cherished his grandchildren and loved being a grand dad. James confessed hope in Christ at an early age and accepted him as his personal savior at Mt. Pisgah M.B. Church in Louisville, Mississippi.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Annie; daughter, Shelonda Lynn (Alvin Sr.) Butler, Bolingbrook; grandchildren, Alvin, Jr., Malik and Deja Butler; great-granddaughter, Lola Butler, Bolingbrook; siblings, Thomas (Becky) Clark of Rock Island, Glenda Faye Clark of Los Angeles, CA, Sandra Clark of Chicago, Anthony Clark and David Clark of Centerville, Richard Clark of Clearfield, UT and Christopher Clark of E. St. Louis, IL; siblings in law, Helen Clark of Preston, MS, Tarlie McKinney and Ann C. Foulks of Rock Island, Jackie Richardson of Minneapolis, Charles Richardson of Detroit, Lee Richardson of Rock Island, Lawrence Richardson of Long Branch, NJ, James Richardson of Rock Island, Herbert Richardson of Kent, WA, Willie Richardson of Rock Island and Lonnie Richardson of Davenport; a special cousin, Johnnie B. Clemmons of Rock Island; special nieces, Carol Clark and Beth Ann Lewis, along with many other loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Walterine Fleming, Callie Leggs, Doris Clark and a brother, Walter Clark, Jr.
