James Allen Cooksey, 87, of Taylor Ridge, IL, passed away April 7, 2026, at Allure of the Quad Cities, Moline.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 27, 2026, at Edgington Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Taylor Ridge with visitation one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be at Edgington Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Edgington Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Jim was born September 20, 1938, in Pasco, Washington, the son of Emmett and Dorothy (Babb) Cooksey. He graduated from Medford Oregon High School and attended Southern Oregon University. He began working for American Finance company and later worked for Wells Fargo Bank. He then became the Finance Manager for a large Toyota dealership in Southern California. After moving to Simi Valley, CA, he started a credit card and ATM business.
He married Rosalie Johnson on June 6, 1959, in Medford, OR. He later married Nancy Fuhr Moyers on July 12, 1986, in Simi Valley, CA. They moved to Illinois 10 years later and spent 29 years together on the family farm.
Jim was a member of East Moline Rotary, Oakview Country Club and Edgington Evangelical Presbyterian Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing, riding horses and watching football, especially the Raiders. He loved traveling both locally and abroad and treasured his trips to Arizona and Southern California.
Jim served his country for 9 years in the U.S. Army National Guard in California and Arizona.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Nancy; son, James (Jackie) Cooksey, Santa Clarita, CA; daughter, Shelly Danno, Central Point, OR; stepsons, Roald Moyers, Henderson, NV and Matthew Moyers, Davenport, IA; grandchildren, Jeff (Maria) Cooksey, Brian (Nicole) Cooksey, Kelly (Camden) Duzenack, Whitney Martinez, Jamie (Carl) Weinreich and Parker Bushek; great-grandchildren, Waylon, Kasey, Jameson, Olivia, Reese, Rory, Nixon, April, Anela and Austin; sister, Loretta Krumbholz, Wickieup, AZ and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carol Esterak.
