Obituary

James W. Craig, 74, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2022, at Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Private burial with military honors will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to the Dementia Society of America or Edgewood Baptist Church.

Jim was born December 9, 1947, in Iowa City, Iowa, a son of Samuel and Vivian (Shannon) Craig. He graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1966. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1970. He married Linnetta Palm on June 19, 1976 in Davenport. Jim worked for the former Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company and retired from MidAmerican Energy in 2008 after 41 years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and bicycling. Jim also liked reading, crosswords, Sudoku, solitaire, and history.

Survivors include his wife, Linnet; daughters, Becky Craig and Beth (Tom) Mixson; son, Robert Craig; grandchildren, Kaylee, Michael, Nicholas, Linn, Henry, Elliott, Aden, and Emily; twin brother, John Craig; and several nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jacki, Sam, Grace, and Dottie.
