James Davis, 59, of Davenport, died Monday, August 14, 2017 at Manor Care Health Services, Davenport. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation is an hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Memorials may be made in care of the family. Brother James was born to Theoatha Davis and Annie L. Harrington on May 4, 1958 in Philadelphia, Mississippi. His parents migrated to Davenport, Iowa in March of 1961 and James attended Jefferson Elementary, J.B. Young Jr. High and Davenport Central High School. James was employed by Holiday Inn, where he chauffeured for several years. James was also employed by the Davenport school bus district, where he worked until he became disabled. James loved listening to music and watching sports on t.v. He loved hanging around family members and going to picnics. James leaves to mourn his death, his mother, Annie L. Carr; brothers, Tarrence and Dennis Davis; sisters, Pamala, Shelter, Brenda and Angie Davis; aunties, Hattie Carter, Mary Lou Peoples and Adi Velhma Davis; uncles, Leroy, Wade and Jack Harrington and Fred Hannah; and a host of cousins, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Theoatha Davis; grandparents, Oatha and Velhma Davis; brother, Raymond E. Davis; uncles, Leo, Curtis, Joe and Cuppy Davis and Thomas, Elgen, Wilbert, Willie, Eugene and Ervin Harrington; and aunties, Florene Mosley, Irene Coollage, Molly Hanna, Dorothy Jones and Jenny Harrington.
