James R. Ducey, 90, of East Moline, passed away on November 21, 2025, at Park Vista, East Moline.
A combined Memorial Service for both James and his late wife, Beverley, will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 11 a.m., at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Inurnment will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted. A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025, at The River House in Moline from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for family and friends. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Born Jimmy Richard Ducey on December 8, 1934, in Mystic, Iowa, a son of John and Ginny (Metcalf) Ducey. He married Beverley Canute on November 9, 1957, in Rock Island. She preceded him in death on September 17, 2025. Jim was a Moline Firefighter for nearly 30 years, retiring from the department in 1986. James was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was a member of the 15th Avenue Christian Church, Rock Island and a former member of the former Memorial Christian Church, Rock Island. Jim was also a member of Moline Firefighters Local No. 581.
Survivors include sons, John "Jack" C. (Elizabeth) Ducey, Rock Island, and James E. (Dianne) Ducey, Milan; grandchildren, Megan (Darren) Sims, Milan, Brandon (Rebecca) Ducey, Milan, Emily (Tanner) Ayers-Berry, Hiawatha, Iowa, Robert Ducey, Rock Island; great grandchildren, Gavin, Zach, Liam, Grace, Olivia, Myles; siblings, John Ducey, Moline, William (Debbie) Ducey, Moline, and Kathy (James) Whetsel, Kankakee, Illinois.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverley; sisters, Barbara Kauzlarich and Pamela Gruber.

The family would like to again offer our sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Park Vista Retirement Home for their continued care for Jim. Special thanks to "Kramer" and the staff at Mercy One's Genesis Hospice Care for their specialized care and support helping the family during these last few weeks. And lastly, to Dave, Joe and the staff at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home for their support, care, friendship and guidance with these final arrangements during this time.
