James “Jim” L. Faramelli, 80, of Rock Island, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island. Services for Jim will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted. A memorial fund has been established.

James L. Faramelli was born on October 1, 1945, in Davenport, a son of Leo and Mary (Keathler) Faramelli. He married Kathryn Harris on November 18, 1978, in Silvis. Jim was the owner of Leo’s Shoe Repair, Rock Island, buying the family business from his father, Leo. He was a 1967 graduate of Augustana College with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Jim enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota with his wife, Kathy. He also loved fishing with his father, his brother John, his uncle Joe, and with friends and other family members. Jim was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife; nieces and nephews, Diane (Paul) Penzkover, Minnetrista, Minnesota, Steve (Carey) Faramelli, Fremont, Indiana, and Johnny (Yulimar) Faramelli, Ankeny, Iowa; great nieces and nephews, Heidi, Luke, Michael, Ryan, Ashton; special friends, Gail, Kay, Nancy, and Jerry “Tool” Carter; and many other cousins and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, John.
