James C. Ferkel of Andalusia, Illinois passed away peacefully on May 11th, 2026 at the age of 85. Visitation will be held at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory in Milan, Illinois on Thursday, May 21, 2026 from 4-6:00pm. Memorials may be made to the family.

He was born on October 11, 1940 to Edward and Julia Ferkel in Rock Island, Illinois. After graduating from Alleman High School, Jim held many delivery jobs, with his final position being a 20+ year career with Eagle Foods. He married Dorothy in 1972 and together they shared 53 wonderful years.

Jim enjoyed fishing, going to his grandson’s sporting events, playing penny slots, and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons (Cole (Sarah) Weinert, Lane (Hadley and Luella) Weinert, Sawyer Weinert, Kamden Weinert). Jim was known for telling the best stories and his goofy sense of humor. Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
