James Patrick Fowler, 76, of Milan, departed from his home and was escorted into the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

Arrangements are pending at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory in Milan.

Memorials may be made in care of the family and Andalusia Community Baptist Church.

Jim Fowler was born on April 7, 1950, in Manchester, Iowa, a son of Edwin and Phyllis Dalton Fowler. He married Ruth M. Karaway on August 20, 1971, and they were blessed with many wonderful memories together.

Throughout his career, Jim worked at John Deere and later Avis Budget Car Rental.

Jim was an amazing man who reflected the love and grace of Jesus Christ in all he did. He loved his wife and children, and his heart held a very special place for his grandchildren. Outside of work, he enjoyed classic movies, listening to music, and working on his antique cars—he was even a founding member of the Big 6 Mississippi Valley Studebaker Drivers Club.

Jim touched many lives. He will be forever cherished and remembered for his great sense of humor and his innate ability to bring peace and calm to everyone around him whenever life felt overwhelming. His laughter warmed our hearts, but it was his soothing spirit—a quiet port in any storm—that truly defined him. His memory lives on in the laughter he sparked and the quiet serenity he naturally brought into the lives of all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; sons, James Preston Fowler and Jonathan (Chelce) Fowler; daughter, Kathryn Greer; grandchildren, Addisyn Mae Fowler and Lincoln Greer; and his brother, Jerry (Mary) Fowler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Fowler.
