James "Jim" H. Golz, 71, of Coal Valley, Ill., passed away Wednesday July 18, 2018 at home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 21st at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated later.

James was born April 21, 1947 in Moline, a son of Herbert and Mary Margaret Pfeifer Golz. Jim graduated from Alleman High School, Rock Island, Class of 1965. He then attended Black Hawk College.

Jim was employed with the City of Rock Island, Water Department for 23 years.

He enjoyed gardening, collecting things, and caring for his dogs. He loved spending time and making memories with family and friends. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, and being the best friend a person could have. He will be greatly missed by all.

Surviving are his life-long companion, Cathy J. Brown, of Coal Valley, and her children, Wendy (Jerry) Norman, Wylie, Tex., and Michael Brown, Bettendorf; "Papa" to Lauren Brown and Kaylea and Jayden Norman; sisters and brothers, Judy (Tim) Schrader, Gregory T. (Janice M.) Golz, Patty (Dan) Strang, Eileen Cloninger, Ed (Debi) Golz, and Maureen (Ric) Fiebig, all of Rock Island; nephews, Jon, Nick, Paul, Mark, Zach and Kyle; nieces, Chrissy, Anna, Jessie and Katie; and numerous grand nieces and grand nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lt. John B. Golz.
