James O. Hanks, Sr., 76, of Moline, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Graveside services for Mr. Hanks will be at 1:30 pm, Monday at the Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Memorials may be made to the family. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family.

James was born on March 7, 1948, in Moline, a son of Oren and Emma (Denton) Hanks. He married Linda Hackwith on October 20, 1967, in Moline. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2020. James worked as a warehouseman for John Deere, East Moline, and later in Conyers, Georgia before retiring in 1997. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and Augustana Basketball fan. Mr. Hanks was a member of Victory Baptist Church, East Moline.

Survivors include his sons, John Hanks, Wilmington, Illinois, and Siraj Habib, Phoenix, Arizona; a grandson, Joe Hackworth, Minneapolis, Minnesota; and a sister, Patricia Hanks-Thomas, Conyers, Georgia.

James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda; infant children, Tracy Hanks, Michael Hanks, and Deborah Hanks.
