James Henry Nesseler, born March 19, 1930, went home to be with The Lord March 13, 2024, just 7 days shy of his 94th birthday.

He was a lifelong resident of Rock Island. He met and married his wife, Betty Lou (Reuter), at Church of Peace, where they regularly attended.

Jim served in the United States Army, where he was stationed overseas in Germany, as well as stateside.

He provided for his family as a career butcher before retiring from Eagle Foods.

He was always kind and gentle and willing to help others. He enjoyed woodworking, swimming and time with his family. He and his wife supported local softball, basketball teams and the "Rocks."

He is survived by his daughters, Emily (Harold Masengarb), Susie (Kevin Hubred), sons, David (Barbara), Scott (Karen), and Jerry (Luz), siblings Doris (Clint Ryan) and Steve.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, daughter Paula, brothers Albert and William, and grandsons Nathaniel, Andrew, and Carl. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 27th at 1:00 pm, service at 2:00 pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home Rock Island.
