James Allen Overton, 71, of Rock Island, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025 at Generations at Rock Island.

Per James' wishes, there will be no services. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family.

James was born on November 27, 1953 in Rock Island, IL, a son of Mary Overton. He was later adopted by Granvil and Erma Jean Angel. He worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for several years, before later transitioning to traveling as a vendor with the carnival.

James' hobbies included reading, playing computer games, watching sports, fishing, cooking and eating barbecue. He especially liked to spend time with his family.

Those left to cherish James' memory include his parents, Granvil and Erma Jean Angel, daughter, Quanitra Light (Demarko), Rock Island, IL; grandchildren, Demarko Jr., Q'Niyah and Marquan, all of Rock Island, IL; siblings , Gary Overton, David Overton, Teresa Babers, Gavin (Toni) Angel, Sharon Kay (Mike) Myers, Judy (Tony) Angel, Cynthia (Kenny) Campbell and Timothy (Liz) Angel; special nephews, Chris Jackson, Michael Overton, Contrell Overton, Tevin Overton, Tyrell Bester and Tremere Bester; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

James was preceded in death by his mom, Mary Overton and siblings, Lesia Overton, Kathy Overton and Mark Overton.
