James "Jim" Randall King, 85, of Taylor Ridge, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2025, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan, Illinois. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Jim was born on June 7, 1940, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, to Herbert C. and Ada V. (McCubbins) King. He graduated from Moline High School in 1958. Jim married Sandra E. Dotson on January 10, 1970, in Rock Island. She preceded him in death on December 28, 2020.

Jim and his wife, Sandy, designed and built the home they shared together. It was a "Labor of Love" that they were able to enjoy for over 50 years, where they raised their two daughters and hosted many family gatherings. Jim worked at Deere and Company for 35 years as a communications engineer. He was also a master machinist at Alcoa for many years, which he was very proud of.

In his early years, Jim was an enthusiastic ham radio operator. Later on, Jim enjoyed designing and building computers, woodworking, loading ammunition, and doing yardwork. Jim shared the love of dogs, specifically, Schipperkes with his wife. Above all, he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Those left to cherish Jim's memory include his daughters, Laura King (Robin Novack), and Jana Behm; and grandchildren, Daniel "Trey" Behm III, and Tori Behm.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sandy; and sister, Helen.
