James A. "Jim" Ringer, 83, of Milan, passed away Thursday January 18, 2018 at Silver Cross Health and Rehabilitation, Rock Island.

Services will be 10am Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, with a luncheon to follow at the Rock Island Boat Club, Rock Island. Memorials may be left to the family for a fund to be established later.

James was born on July 19, 1934 in Iowa City, IA the son of Claude and Evelyn (Zeil) Ringer.

He married the former June Proksch on October 11, 1958 in Milan. She preceded him in death on January 29, 2016.

Mr. Ringer had been employed at John Deere Foundry as a supervisor until his retirement in 1985.

Jim loved to travel and play bingo with his wife June. He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing and gardening.

Survivors include his children, James (Elizabeth) Ringer Jr., Rock Island, Christol Vance, Milan; granddaughter, Tiffone Johnson, Milan; step grandchildren, Buddy Burleson and Nicki McClain, Missouri; great granddaughter, Selyne; step great grandchildren, Aaron, Katelyn and Hanna.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Judy Hickerson and Marion Brasmer.
