James A. Rosene , 80, of Rock Island passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 5, 2021.
Private family services will be 1:00 p.m. January 14 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave. Milan. A recording will be available for viewing after services at Jim's obituary page at wheelanpressly.com. Private burial, with military honors presented by Moline American Legion Post 246, will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to Bethel Assembly of God Church, Rock Island.
Jim was born March 25, 1940 in Rock Falls, Illinois, a son of Willard E. and Florence (Giese) Rosene. He graduated from Sterling High School, Class of 1958. He married Jo Ann McCollum on September 29, 1974 in Moline, IL.
Jim was a U.S. Navy veteran with service during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a welder/burner for Western Structural, Moline, for 39 years.
Jim was a man of strong Christian faith and loved his family. He will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and papa. He was a faithful member at Bethel Assembly of God Church where he enjoyed many activities and served as an usher. He also enjoyed reading, fishing and bluegrass music.
Surviving are his wife, Jo Ann, of Rock Island; daughter, Susan Jo Senatra, Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren, Joshua (Karli) Clement, Bettendorf, IA, and Brianna Jo (Brennan) Hicks, Wheatland, IA; great grandchildren, Elyjah, Kaleah and Nathan Clement; sister, Pearl Planthaber, Rock Falls, IL; brothers, Francis (June) Rosene, Sterling, IL and Dwight (Pat) Rosene, Casper, WY; brother-in-law, Jack McCollum, Silvis, IL; sister-in-law Brendle McCollum, Milan, IL; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts and uncles.
