James Edward Strauss Sr., 56, Moline, IL passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, IA. There will be a visitation from 3-6:00 PM on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Memorials preferred to the family.

James was born on June 30, 1966 to Marion and Mary Elizabeth (Allen) Strauss in Rock Island. He grew up in the area and attended Rockridge High School. James worked in construction as a roofer and at salvage yards until his retirement.

In 1985, he was united in marriage to Corina Engesser. The couple made their home in Mercer County where they raised their three sons.

James loved fishing with his sons and grandchildren. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting anything else outdoors from the time he was a kid when he started hunting and trapping. He also liked going to the casino and playing the slot machines. James will be remembered for his sense of humor and his practical jokes.

He is survived by his sons, Lawrence (Maxine) Strauss, John (JoAnna Salisberry, and James Strauss Jr.; grandchildren, Tavian, Bentley, and Jax Strauss; and sister, Charlotte Strauss.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Pamela Strauss, Edward Strauss, and Christine Jones.
