Obituary

James F. Strayhall, 91, of Moline, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Allure of the Quad Cities, Moline. Graveside services for James will be 11:30 am, Saturday at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 am to 11 am Saturday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Moline Boosters Club.

James was born on November 11, 1931, in Marceline, Missouri, a son of Fred and Mary Strayhall. He married Theresa Campbell on August 23, 1952, in Moline. She preceded him in death on December 8, 1997. Mr. Strayhall worked for Alcoa for 40 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of United Steelworkers Local No. 105, Bettendorf, where he had also served as the editor of the newsletter. James was a member of National Chevy Car Club. He enjoyed collecting and selling car parts. James was a long-time season ticket holder to the Moline High School Boys Basketball. He enjoyed playing cards and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Survivors include his sons, Gary Strayhall, Moline, Terry (Jenny) Strayhall, Colona, and Richard Strayhall, Moline; three grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Theresa; stepbrother, Tom Craig; and stepsisters, Marjorie Franklin, and Margaret Stanley.
