Janet E. Day, 81, Moline, IL passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at UnityPoint-Trinity Hospital, Rock Island, IL. At her passing she was surrounded by family and friends. The family will be having a memorial service for her at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Grace Church PC (USA) in Rock Island. A celebration of life will follow.
Jan was born on September 18, 1943 to Henry and Zelma (Lear) Miles in Rock Island where she grew up and attended school. After graduation, she got married and started a family raising her three children in Moline. When she became a single mom, Jan entered the workforce and often had two or three jobs to support herself and her children. She worked at Country Style, Hickory Farms, Helzberg Jewelry, the Dispatch and did volunteer gift wrapping at Christmas time. Jan's primary career was at the Arsenal where she was a procurement specialist for over 29 years until her retirement.
Later in life, Jan took up painting and greatly enjoyed watercolors and acrylics. Her other hobbies included shopping, watching K-dramas, and traveling. In her younger years, she liked playing softball and was on a team with her siblings. Family was of the utmost importance to Jan. She was very close with her children, grandchildren and their families as well as her siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins. They made a point to get together often whether it was for Sister's Club, Birthday Club, or Game Night.
Jan will be greatly missed by her children, Todd (Peggy) Day, Tracey (Scott) Radek, and Darrin (Kelli) Day; grandchildren, Alexa Kent, Micah Wolf, Bailey Radek, Emily Radek, Robert Day, Trista Day, Emma Day; twelve great-grandchildren; siblings, Donald Miles and Lynn Dietz; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Zelma Miles, as well as siblings, Bill Miles, Susan Gordon, and Lisa Gisel.
