May 13, 1937 – March 19, 2025
Janet V. Kistler, 87, of Buffalo Prairie, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday March 19, 2025 at Lutheran Living, Muscatine, Iowa.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday April 2, 2025 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Reynolds, Illinois. Visitation will be Tuesday April 1, 2025 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Private graveside services will be in Buffalo Prairie Cemetery. Memorials may be left to Buffalo Prairie Cemetery Association.
Janet was born on May 13, 1937 in Drury Township, the daughter of Walter and Laura (Dungan) Feldman. She attended a 1 room school house in Wrayville before moving to rural Illinois City. Janet later graduated from Reynolds High School in 1954 and Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. She married Wendell Kistler on November 22, 1957 in Victoria, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 26, 2018.
Janet had been employed as a nurse all her adult life, she was always willing to help nurse her family and friends. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Janet loved spending time with her family, cooking, cleaning, working in the yard, and attending her children and grandchildren's activities. She was a longtime member of the Buffalo Prairie Church, serving in many ways.
She is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Greg and Sue Kistler, Muscatine, Iowa, Marty and Jami Kistler, Illinois City; grandchildren, Christina (Job) Onyango, Samantha (Iain) O'Connor, Steven Kistler, Michael Kistler, Addison Kistler (fiancée Emily Baer), Isaiah Kistler and sister, Diane (Doug) Hessman.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell; parents, Walter and Laura; brothers, Keith and Glenn Feldman and sister, Marilyn Lafever.
The family wishes to thank St Croix Hospice and the staff at Lutheran Living for the wonderful care their mother received.
