Janet "Jan" Harriett Patting, 91, of Rock Island, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 1, 2025 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 3:00 – 5:00 pm on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at the Knox Chapel of Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 2106 7th Ave, Rock Island. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be left in care of Alleman High School, Rock Island.
Jan was born on June 28, 1934 in Bradford, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Bruce and Mabel (Tanner) Jennings. She married Harold "Otto" Patting in January of 1959 and they enjoyed over 66 years of marriage together. Jan worked for Metropolitan Life and later retired from the City of Rock Island, where she served as the mayor and city manager's executive secretary.
Jan's hobbies included knitting, sewing, gardening, bird watching, cooking, baking and collecting antique pottery. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island.
Those left to cherish Jan's memory include her husband, Otto Patting, Rock Island; children, Cathy (Mark) Levsen, Bettendorf, Matt Patting (Robyn Anderson), Taylor Ridge, Ann (Bert) Neubauer, Amana, IA, Mike (Denise) Patting, Rock Island and Mary (Kevin) Greenley, Cedar Falls, IA; grandchildren, Nick (Katya) Levsen, Katie (Mark) Miller, Bryan (Mallary) Levsen, Erin Levsen, Jesica (Tim) Gould, Ben (Kristin) Patting, Savanna (Daren) Southwell, Mallory (Bo) Greenlee, Jake Neubauer, Lauren Patting, Rachel Patting (Mason), Jack Patting, Megan Greenley and Maci Greenley; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Jan was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Joshua Patting and Renae Janet Patting; parents; and five siblings.
