Janet Marie Watkins, 85, of Rock Island, died Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Amber Ridge Assisted Living, Moline.  Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan.  Visitation will be from 10 - 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Estate, Moline.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of Beacon of Hope Hospice, Davenport.

Janet was born in Roseville, Ill. on January 23, 1932, a daughter of Frank and Mildred Braselton Howard.  She married Walter "Clair" Watkins on Sept. 3, 1952 in Roseville.   He preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 2013.

Janet graduated from Western Illinois University, Macomb, with a bachelor's degree in education.  She spent a few years as a substitute teacher in Rock Island/Milan School District #41 before becoming a homemaker.  She was always smiling and had a great sense of humor.  She enjoyed arts, crafts and dancing, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children (and spouses), Steve(Mary) Watkins, Moline, Kim (Dewey) Hines, Milan, Teri (Jake) Willert, Davenport, Jill (Rod) Simmer, Rock Island and Todd Watkins, Rock Island; grandchildren, Heather, Troy and Shane Watkins, Chad Hines, Megan Ayers, Lindsey and Jenna Willert and Austin, Lauren, Rachel and Hannah Simmer; and great-grandchildren, Kaleb Willert, Aerial Hines, Ila Simmer, Carter and Carmen Watkins and Faith Ayers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister, Carol Gibb.
