Janice C. Watts , 81, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away Sunday October 17, 2021 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Live-streamed funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 28, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, Ill., and may be viewed at wheelanpressly.com/ live-stream rock island. Private family burial will be at Forest Home Cemetery, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 27 at the funeral home and additional visitation one hour prior to services Thursday. In honor of Janice's passion for uniting young families in need with local resources, please consider gifting your memorials to Argrow's House of Healing and Hope, Davenport, Iowa in lieu of plants or floral arrangements.
Janice was born October 15, 1940 in Rock Island, Illinois, a daughter of Leon L. Dobbs and Lillian M. Moore Dobbs. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. She completed her graduate studies at Western Illinois University, where she earned her master's degree in counseling. She was married to Eudell Watts III on April 20, 1963 in Milwaukee.
She was a counselor with the Rock Island/Milan School District 41, Youth Service Bureau, and Rock Island County Juvenile Probation Dept.
She was a member of Calvary Church, Moline, Royal Neighbors of America, Chapter 20020, past president of Rock Island Jayceettes, American Cancer Society, and was an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Lorelei (Dan) Andedo, Bettendorf, Eudell (Julie) Watts IV, Evanston, Ill., Tracy Watts, San Antonio, Tex., Janice (Koffi) Gbenyo, Rock Island, Ill., and David Watts, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; grandchildren, Eudell V, Simone, Christian, Brielle, Lillian, Amaya, Edafe, Randy, Shakira, Jayden, Kaelynn, Blake and Kai; many nieces, nephews, and additional family.
Janice was preceded in death by her son, Leo Watts; parents, Leon and Lillian, brother, Gary Dobbs, and an uncle, Jim Moore.
