IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janna Beinke
Marshall
December 24, 1956 – March 15, 2016
Janna Beinke Marshall, 59, formerly of the Quad Cities, went home to her Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 15,, 2016, following a long illness. She was residing at Grand JiVante assisted living facility in Ackley, Iowa, at the time of passing.
A memorial gathering to honor Janna's life will be held on Saturday, March 19th, from 3 to 5 pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home & Crematory, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
Janna was born on December 24th, 1956, in Davenport, the youngest daughter of E. Louise Beinke and the late Glenn Beinke. She married the love of her life, B. Mack Marshall, on April 21, 1990, in Hawaii.
Janna grew up in Rock Island. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1974, near the top of her class; University of Illinois in 1978, where she majored in Business and received high honors; and Harvard Business School with an MBA in 1982. She held high positions in such well-known companies as Swiss Colony, Oriental Trading Company, Highlights for Children, and Red Roof Inn Corporate.
Janna was a creative and talented individual. Her childhood and youth were highlighted by excellence in both speed and synchronized swimming. She also excelled in many facets of the arts. Having a beautiful singing voice, she participated in theater and choral groups in high school, college, and beyond. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, and crocheting. Other hobbies included reading, travelling, and cat-owning. Her constant thirst for knowledge paid off when she was a two-day contestant on the TV show Jeopardy in 2001.
Though Janna's life was marked by many achievements, love of family was most important to her. Her goal in life was to be a successful businesswoman who provided for her family and set an ethical example for her children. Beyond family, she was kind and compassionate to all people, regardless of their economic or other status.
Those celebrating her life include her best friend and husband of nearly 24 years, B. Mack Marshall, Davenport; mother, E. Louise Beinke, Rock Island; children, Corey S. Marshall, Seattle, WA. and Megan L. Marshall, Chicago; sisters, Lynette S. Unger, Loveland, OH, and Luanne E. Beinke, Rock Island, and Luanne's fiance, John Crist, Rock Island; nephews, Brad Unger, Scott Unger, Ryan Marshall, and Connor Marshall; and nieces Julia McCullough and Sherri Collins.
Janna was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Beinke; grandparents, aunts and uncles; and many cats.
The family would like to thank Vera French Pine Knoll residence in Davenport and Grand JiVante for their loving care of Janna during her illness.
