IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jason R.
Pitman
March 14, 2006 – August 19, 2023
Jason R. Pitman, 17, of Coal Valley, passed away Saturday August 19, 2023.
Services will be held at 10:30am Saturday August 26, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4800 Kennedy Drive, East Moline, Illinois. The family will greet friends at church from 9:30am to service time. Burial will follow in Coal Valley Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the family.
Jason was born at home in East Moline, Illinois. He is the 5th of 6 children. His family moved to Anthem, Arizona when he was just 3 years old. Then when he was 9 years old his family moved to Broomfield, Colorado. And when he was 14, the family moved to Coal Valley, Illinois, just minutes away from where he was born.
As mischievous as a video game wizard, Jason was an adored son, brother, and buddy. Survived by his rockstar mom, Alecia Pitman, his dad who knows all the Dad jokes, Robert Pitman, and a squad of siblings including Alexa, Jesse, Eli, Autumn, and Nicholas, Jason's laughter lit up our lives.
He was a busy kid. He loved his family, but he also loved his friends. He was never athletic, but he liked being active. He was seriously goofy, always trying to make people laugh. He was always so positive and upbeat. When he wasn't busy conquering virtual landscapes and leaving his artistic magic on paper, Jason enjoyed hanging out with his family, popping corn and enjoying a marathon of movies. Don't be fooled though, because this young man also knew a thing or two about rocking a toolbox and lending a helping hand to his dad's home improvement projects.
One big event in his life that defined him was when, at 11 years old, he was paralyzed during a wrestling accident on his 4th day of practice. Through a miracle from God, he was healed within 48 hours, but due to the spinal tap, the headaches he would get every time he sat up, forced him to stay laying down for 3 months. Even though that was a difficult time for him, he stayed positive. He also had some great friends that looked out for him.
Another time in his life that defined him was when he went to BizTown. His job was accounting and he thought it was easy. His teachers told him it was not an easy job, but he was a natural at it. He then adjusted his sights from becoming a brain surgeon to being an accountant.
He is with his Grandma, Grandpa, and Heavenly Father who are loving him and helping him on his continuing path. It is not over for him. But we will miss him until we are reunited again.
To celebrate Jason's incredible journey, a visitation will take place on August 26, 2023, starting at 9:30am, followed by a funeral service at 10:30am. Drop by 4800 Kennedy Drive East Moline, Illinois to share laughter and memories.
While words cannot fully capture Jason's vibrant spirit, his legacy of humor and love will forever echo through the lives he touched. Let's celebrate the joy and laughter he gifted us and keep that mischievous spark alive in our hearts. Rest easy, Jason, knowing you've left behind smiles that will ripple through eternity.
Survivors include his parents, Robert and Alecia Pitman, Coal Valley; siblings, Alexa, Jesse, Eli, Autumn and Nicholas Pitman; 2nt grandma, Linda Pitford; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
