IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jay H.
Allison
November 14, 1972 – September 4, 2025
Jay H. Allison, 52, Rock Island, IL passed away due to natural causes on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at his home. There will be a visitation from 4-7:00 PM on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 19, 2025 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
Jay was born on November 14, 1972 to Herbert and Susan (Zaleski) Allison in Rock Island, IL. After graduating from Moline High School, he attended Blackhawk Community College. Jay worked construction as a union painter for several years and then traveled the country installing fiber for Google, Turner Broadcasting, and other companies. After returning from Colorado, he started his career in the music industry at the Stern Center. A few years later, he became the operations supervisor for the River Center in Davenport where he was working at the time of his passing. Jay was a well-known figure in the music scene in the Quad Cities. He was a fixture at venues in the area where he did everything from sound to security.
Music was a principal part of Jay's life. He played the guitar, keyboard, percussion and just about any other instrument. He loved listening to Bob Marley, Phish and Grateful Dead and when he wasn't working shows, he was attending them. Jay enjoyed watching bands at local venues and hanging out at different breweries, especially Stompbox.
Jay is remembered for his kind heart. He was always there to take care of others – whether it was the people he knew or ones he helped while volunteering for the Red Cross. He is greatly missed by all who knew him.
Jay is survived by his mother, Susan; brother, Jon Allison; nieces, Jordan (Josh) Oja, Jenna Allison, Marisa Allison, and Makenzie Allison; two great-nieces and two great-nephews; his best friend and soulmate, Nicole Perez; and his beloved dog, Holly.
He was preceded in death by his father.
