Jean Ester McGee, 78, of Rock Island, died Thursday, December 20, 2018 at UnityPoint Health – Trinity, Bettendorf.  Services will be 10 am Saturday at Olivet Baptist Church, Rock Island.  Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made in care of Olivet Baptist Church.

Jean was born in Carthage, Mississippi on October 4, 1940, a daughter of Charlie and Tecora Parrott Harris.  She graduated from Jordan High School in Carthage, Mississippi.  Jean married Frank E. McGee on November 15, 1964 in Memphis, Tennessee.  He preceded her in death on February 26, 2018.

Jean enjoyed babysitting in her earlier years.  She was grateful for this opportunity because it allowed her to raise her own children.  Once her children were older, she worked as a dietician for Generations at Rock Island.

Jean was a member of Olivet Baptist Church, Rock Island.  She loved her family and cherished the moments spent together.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children (and spouses), Craig E. (Cynthia) McGee, Rock Island, Anthony McGee, Rock Island, Terry L. McGee, Rock Island and Cedric A. (Michele) McGee, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Audrey, Kenneth, Andre and Adriana McGee; one great-grandson, Kenny McGee; sister, Kay (Ocie) Duckett, Memphis, TN; and a host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Kenny McGee, brother, Othalee Harris and sister, Mary Louise Harris.
