Jean Caroline Nelson Larson, 95, of Bloomington, Illinois, formerly of Rock Island, Illinois, died Thursday, May 30, 2024 in Phoenix, Arizona.  A private family graveside service will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.  A memorial service will be at 11 am Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1617 E. Emerson Street, Bloomington, Illinois 61701.  Memorials may be made in care of St. John's Lutheran Church, Bloomington, Illinois.   Arrangements are being handled by Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.

Jean was born in Rock Island, Illinois on July 29, 1928, a daughter of Edward William and Martha Elizabeth Olson Nelson.  She married Harvey A. Larson on June 19, 1954 in Rock Island, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on May 25, 2006.

Jean graduated from Moline Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in 1951.  She earned her bachelor's degree from Augustana College in 1952.

Jean worked as a unit secretary at Bromenn Hospital in Bloomington for over 20 years, retiring in 2002.

Jean was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Bloomington, Illinois.  She was an Alumni of Trinity Nursing Schools and the Bromenn Service Auxiliary.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Thomas E. (Mary) Larson, Bloomington, IL, Scott M. Larson, Mackinaw, IL and Amy L. Larson (Steve Fields), Phoenix, AZ; grandsons, Dane Larson, Peoria, IL and Sydney Marine, Bloomington, IL; granddaughter, Francezz Marine, Bloomington, IL; close cousin, Alma Nelson, Vista, CA; and sister, Lois Mester, Rolling Meadows, IL as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
