Jeffrey J. Mossage, 69, Aledo, IL passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025 at UnityPoint-Trinity Hospital in Rock Island, IL. There will be a visitation from 10-11:00 AM with a funeral service following at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Common Chord Education Fund.
Jeff was born on July 1, 1956 to John and Barbara (Noppe) Mossage in Rock Island, IL. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1974 and then moved to Colorado for a brief time. He returned to the Quad Cities and married Jan Hamilton in 1978. They had two children.
On November 4, 1993 he was united in marriage to Susan Callahan. The couple made their home in Aledo with their three children.
Jeff worked as a cargo handler for Roadway Express for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Teamsters.
Jeff was also lifelong carpenter. He worked with his father at his company and also did projects on his own, professionally and personally. At his home he made several buildings, including one for music, and one as a workshop. Jeff was an avid music lover and musician. He starting playing the guitar at the age of 6 and then continued to learn other instruments. Guitar was his favorite and he collected many, played frequently, and even built several. He liked to stay busy and enjoyed going to auctions and collecting antiques and items for his projects. Almost everyone he knew got one of his birdhouses with a license plate roof.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 31 years, Sue; mom, Barb; children, Johnna (Anthony Warrington) Mossage, Jamie (Deric) Lane, and Joseph (Kelly) Callahan; grandchildren, Shawn Murphy II, Wade Warrington, Leah Callahan and Sylar Callahan; siblings, Jill (Ken) Evans, Jay (Ivy) Mossage, and Jessica (Jack) Schwindt; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved their Fun Uncle Jeff.
He was preceded in death by his father, John.
