Jennie Hoskins, 84, of Rock Island, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center of Moline. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday at Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in care of the Alzheimer's Association.
Jennie was born on March 10, 1932 in Sardis, MS, a daughter of Alonzo and Lucy Griffin Madlock. She married Clarence Hoskins on June 27, 1951 in Batesville, MS. Clarence passed away on July 4, 1978. Jennie worked for many years at Servus Rubber, Town and Country Bowling Lanes, Fort Armstrong and Watch Hill Tower, retiring in 1990. She was a member at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center, Rock Island. Jennie loved bowling, spending time with family, gardening, playing cards and fishing. For many years, Jennie enjoyed going swimming daily at the Rock Island Fitness Center.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; Gerrard Hoskins, Rock Island, Cathie (Micky) McCall, Davenport, Earnice (Melvin) Patrick, Rock Island, Marilyn (Victor) McCall, Bettendorf and Myron (Sonya) Hoskins, Atlanta, GA; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Reed and Thelma Richardson; brothers, Melvin Madlock and Lincoln Madlock and many other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; her parents and six siblings, Wadale, Juanita, Wilmae, William, Sid and Mable
