Jerald L. "Jerry" Boyer, 82, of Rock Island, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island. A private family memorial service will be held on Friday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be conducted. Memorials may be made to the family.

Jerry was born on July 21, ,1933 in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, a son of Carl and Emma Halseth Boyer. He married Barbara R. Phillips on April 27, 1957 in Moline. She preceded him in death on December 8, 2008. Jerry was the co-owner of Rock Island Plating Works. He was a former member of the Rock Island Boat Club. Jerry was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his children, Brian Boyer, Rock Island, Kenny (Dorine) Boyer, Rock Island, Karen (Greg) Grimes, and Sharon (Terry) Willers, LeClaire, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren; and sisters, Helen Peterson and Jeannie Schmidt.
