Jerome F. Meyer, 64, of Rock Island, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017 after losing the battle to cancer and staying positive until the day he passed at his residence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island.  Visitation will be 5 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, with a recitation of the rosary at 4:30 pm.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made to the family to go towards his grandchildren's college fund.

Jerome was born on June 30, 1953 in Rock Island, the son of Kenneth and Carmel (Meisel) Meyer.  He retired as an electrician at Alcoa.  Jerome graduated from Rock Island High School in the Class of '71.  He enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially going camping with his camping club, family camping on wheels.  Jerome was a kind man putting others first and always there to lend a helping hand and never asking for anything in return.

Jerome is survived by his two daughters, Christina Meyer, Rock Island and Jennifer Meyer, Davenport; grandchildren, Ebony and Corey Meyer; siblings, Steve (Deb) Meyer, Betty (Richard) Olson, and Robert (Cindy) Meyer; aunt, Loretta Meyer; nieces and nephews, Chad, Eric, Janel, Michelle, and Holly.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
