Jerry L. Anders, 89, Rock Island, IL passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at ProMedica in Moline. There will be a private committal service at Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials preferred to the Quad Cities Animal Welfare Center.

Jerry was born on September 5, 1933 to Bert and Margaret (Pile) Anders in Winchester, IL.  He grew up in the Quad Cities area and graduated from Sherrard High School. After high school, he served in the United States Army 11th Airborne Division.

Jerry worked as a foreman for the Rock Island County Highway Department for 35 years until his retirement.

On December 11, 1989 he was united in marriage to Shirley Tomlinson in Montana. The couple made their home in Rock Island.

He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. He enjoyed traveling, doing yardwork, and spending time with family.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Mark and Esther Anders, Livonia, MI; Matthew and Susie Anders, Rock Island; Larry and Sarah Greim, Coal Valley, IL, Vickie and Steve Fowler, Norfolk, Nebraska, Ronald and Liz Greim, Cambridge, IL, Sheila Hinzman, Milan, IL; sixteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; and brothers, Monty and David Anders.
