Jerry L. Dickey, 75, Davenport, IA formerly Rock Island, IL died Friday, May 20, 2022 at Genesis East Hospital, Davenport. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 PM Thursday, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Funeral service at 10:00 AM Friday at the funeral home. Burial at Chippiannock Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the family.
Jerry was born June 30, 1946 to James and Jennie (Lord) Dickey in Rock Island where he grew up and graduated high school.
While working at Wonder Bread, a coworker introduced Jerry to her daughter, who would turn out to be the love of his life. He and Linda Meanor were united in marriage on July 5, 1966 in Rock Island.
Jerry served in the US Navy from 1966-1970 on the USS Hancock. Following his honorable discharge, Jerry returned to Rock Island where he and Linda made their home and raised their children.
Jerry worked as an assembler at JI Case until 1975 when he medically retired.
Jerry was very handy, doing projects such as remodeling his basement and helping build his parents' home. He could do everything from plumbing to electrical work. Jerry was also a self-taught computer guru who enjoyed playing games on his iPad and amassing a vast digital music collection of all different types of songs.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 55 years, Linda; mother, Jennie Daniels; children, Sheralee (David) Lichthardt, Gary (Amy Kirkbride) Dickey, Keri (Chesney Drummond) Wright; brothers, John William "Bill" (Joanne) and Kenny (Laura) Dickey; grandchildren, Eric and Amanda Jackson; Corinne Koopman; Coltton, Chase and Jack Dickey; Parker Dickey; Zayne and Memphis Dickey; Julia and Jaysa Kirkbride; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, James; son, Jerry Jr.; brother, Robert; infant sister, Jean; and granddaughter, Deanna Koopman.
