Jerry G. Hinson, 68, of Rock Island, passed away Friday July 28, 2017 at his home.

A Memorial Gathering and Celebration of Jerry's Life will be 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday, July 31st, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island. A memorial service and inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Jerry was born October 4, 1948 in Centerville, Iowa, a son of Kenneth and Delores Shadden Hinson. He graduated from Rock Island High School. Jerry married Linda Raisbeck on March 26, 1966 in Rock Island. She preceded him in death on April 15, 1998. He later married Kelley Ward on May 19, 2000 in Rock Island.

Jerry was employed at Oscar Mayer in Davenport for thirty years.

Most important to him was his family. He will be fondly remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed many outdoor activities and was an avid golfer. In earlier years, he enjoyed cars, motorcycles and anything that went fast.

Surviving are his wife, Kelley, of Rock Island; daughter, Shari Tillia, Rock Island; son and daughter -in-law, Tim and Natalie Hinson, Holland, MI; grandchildren, Conner, Taylor, Carter and Tristen Hinson, all of Holland, and Tess Gooding, Albuquerque, NM; great-grandson, Owen Gooding; mother, Delores Fryxell, East Moline; brothers, Jack Hinson, Moline, Larry Hinson, Rock Island, Gary Hinson, St. Louis, MO; sisters, Jane Tobias, Coal Valley, and Donna Gieblestien, Davenport, IA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and additional family.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Ken; stepfather, Keith Fryxell; and sister Susie Belz.
