Jerry Dean Smith, 74, of Altona, passed away Monday September 8, 2014 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM on Friday September 12, 2014 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
Jerry was born June 21, 1940 in Iowa City, IA, the son of Ivan and Lenora (McFarland) Smith. He married Donna Nowack in 1966 in Rock Island. She preceded him in death December 1, 2011. Jerry owned and operated the Rainbow Carpet Cleaning Service for 32 years.
Jerry loved playing music and spending time with his family and friends. He was very sociable, generous, and helpful. Nobody was a stranger to Jerry.
Jerry will be remembered by his seven children Daniel (Patty) Smith, Davenport, Sonya Feik-Hensley, Aledo, Robert Smith, Altona, and Edith (Bambie Reed) Mack, Rock Island, Glenn (Betsy) Kruger, Delores Larry, and Patty (Hoag) Ngo; his grandchildren, Eric and Candice Smith, Garrett Feik, Blake and Grace Smith, and Erica and Lindsay Mack; his great-grandson Lucas Daniel Winkler; his siblings, Mary Board, Roger (Cheri) Smith, Gary (Jeanne) Smith, and Delores (Larry) Blay; and his special friend Janet Williams.
He was preceded in death by his wife Donna; his parents; his two grandchildren Jason Smith and Jacob Mack; sister Louis Hayes; and son Ivan Kruger.
