Jerry E. Spivey, 82, of Sherrard, died September 20, 2023 at home surrounded by family.  A funeral service will be 10 am Friday, September 29, 2023 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 801 W. Edgington Street, Reynolds.  Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Thursday, September 28, 2023 at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at Reynolds Cemetery.  Memorials may be made in care of the family to establish a college fund for Jerry's granddaughter, Haizley.

Jerry was born on September 10, 1941 in Mercer County, Illinois, a son of Thomas and Mildred Fetters Spivey.  He married Cheryle Jones on September 9, 1982 in Thompson, Illinois.

Jerry was a lifelong farmer.  He was an avid hay baler and Green Bay Packers fan.  He enjoyed bowling, traveling out west, attending rodeos and was the king of morel mushroom hunting.  Jerry lived for his coffee and ice cream.

Jerry was a member of Trails of Hope Cowboys for Christ in Viola and was attending Buffalo Prairie Church in Buffalo Prairie.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Cheryle Spivey, Sherrard; daughter, Cassandra (Paul Jr.) Rosmann, Taylor Ridge; granddaughter, Haizley Rosmann; sister, Bonnie Calderone, Sherrard; beloved friends, Robbie and Carol Reed; and life-long friend, Renee Michl.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Lyle, Curtis and Roger Spivey.
