Jesus "Jess" Campos, 83, of Rock Island, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024, at UnityPoint Health, Bettendorf, IA.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Funeral services will be at 10:00am on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Jess's memory to The Heart Foundation.
Jess was born September 8, 1941, in Rock Island, to Raymond and Consuelo (Soto) Campos. He married Nancy Wheeler on November 22, 1963, in Rock Island. She preceded him in death on November 2, 2015. In his younger years, Jess worked for the City of Rock Island. Later in life, Jess and his family owned and ran their restaurant, Acapulco Café.
Jess was a longtime member of New Life Fellowship, Moline. He was also a member of Four-Square Church, Milan. Jess and his wife were active with Samaritan's Purse and Operation Shoebox. Jess participated in three mission trips to Russia.
In his youth, Jess was an avid runner. He enjoyed watching college basketball and was especially a fan of Caitlin Clark. He loved his Friday night and Saturday morning visits with his classmates.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons (and spouses), Jesse (Kathy) Campos, Moline, Sean Campos, Rock Island, and Ty (Beth) Campos, Riverside, MO; grandchildren, Bryck, Bryttnee, Tyler, Ellen, Olivia, Avalee, and Kellan; great-grandchildren, Carter, Cash, Kynlee, Gabriella, Noah, Kain, Nina, Mia, and Rheo; sister-in-law, Shirley (Ralph) Trout; and many more friends and family members.
Jess was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Esther Villareal, Estella Perez, and Maria Elena Campos; brothers, Rudy Campos, Rick Campos, Rupert Campos, and Raymond Campos Jr.; brother-in-law, Johnny Johnson.
