Jimmie D. Hines, 78, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away Friday, December 12, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island, Illinois. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Jimmie was born on April 9, 1947, in Rock Island, Illinois, a son of Willie and Florine (Rose) Hines. He graduated from North High School in Des Moines, Iowa, where he was a state wrestling champion. Jimmie proudly served in the U.S Army and was honorably discharged in 1970. He worked as a deputy sheriff in Des Moines. Jimmie also worked several other jobs throughout life. He enjoyed watching sports, especially football and basketball. Above all, Jimmie enjoyed spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish Jimmie's family include his children, Teisha Hines, Marvin Taylor, and Erico Hines; special grandchildren, A'Lyeshanique Hines, A'Travious Hines, Anthony Early, Annjahnique Clay, A'Zayleighayr Hines, and Rashawnda Hines; special great-grandchildren, Sa'Kani Coleman and Sa'Briyah Howard; brother, Bobby (Marji) Hines; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; children, Jamedia Hines, Demarco Hines, and Jimie Hines; the love of his life, Maria Jean Jackson; and brother, Ronald Hines.
