Joan M. Harris, 91, Milan, IL passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Promedica Moline, joining her husband, Ron, who preceded her on December 3, 2022. The family will be having a memorial Mass at 10 AM on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Private family interment at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan.

Joan was born on June 18, 1931 to John and Teresa (Gales) Miller in Mitchell, South Dakota. She grew up in South Dakota where she graduated high school and then attended Dakota Wesleyan University.

On January 5, 1952 Joan was united in marriage to Ronald Harris in Stickney, South Dakota. The couple had one daughter, Jean Anne. Together, they owned and operated Thomas Paint.

Joan and Ron loved to dance and were members of the 24 Dance Club through the Viking Club. They were also members of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Milan. For many years, she taught first grade at St. Mary's Catholic School in Muscatine. She was also active with several women's clubs in Eldridge and Muscatine. Playing cards was one of her favorite hobbies. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family and grandkids.

She is survived by her daughter, Jean Anne (Stephen) Nau; grandchildren, Jason (Bobbi) Nau and Danielle (Greg) Hansen; and great-grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, and Lauren Marie Nau; Jacksen and Lucas Hansen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ron; and siblings, Clarice Kuckleberg, Dorothy Mullison, Margaret Sauvage, John Miller, Frank Miller, Robert Miller, Harriet Storm, Mary Ellen Larson.
