IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joan G.
(Kidd) Pealstrom
April 19, 1925 – May 6, 2016
Joan Gloria Pealstrom, 91, of Rock Island, died Friday, May 6, 2016 at Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport.
She donated her body to science. Services will be on Saturday, May 14, at 11 am at First Lutheran Church, 1600-20th Street, Rock Island. Visitation is 10 am until service time Saturday. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or to the Rock Island Public Library, Attention Business Office.
Joan was born on April 19, 1925 in Moline. She was the daughter of Pliny Ildo and Emelia Bertha Kidd. As a child, she and her sister Marilyn played the saxophone, sang and danced. She married Eugene Robert Pealstrom on September 14, 1948 in Rock Island. With her husband, she owned the Davenport Scale and Staple Company and worked as its office manager. She was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church and participated in many activities, including Mothers Singers, volunteering at Rock Island Library, the church bell choir, and several bridge clubs. Her interests included reading and sewing. She played cards and sharked her grandchildren at hearts; she was an avid sports fan. She was known for her kindness and inner strength. She endured her many hardships with dignity and grace.
Survivors include her best friend and sister, Marilyn Hubbard; her son, Mark; her daughters, Monica (Jerome) Cornille and Sue (Mark) Gindlesparger; her grandchildren, Daniel, Samuel, Diana, Nathan, and Hannah Pealstrom, Adam (Miranda) and Anna Cornille, and Matthew (Kathryn) and Emily Gindlesparger; her great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; brother, Bobby; husband; infant son, Scott; and great-granddaughter, LeStar. We will cherish her memory and love her always.
Joan's family wishes to thank Linda Golden (Mark's special friend) for her innumerable kindnesses; all of you at Friendship Manor where she made her home in her later life; and the staff at Select Specialty Hospital for their compassionate care and expertise.
