Joan Lioen, 94, of Bettendorf passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at The Summit of Bettendorf.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, October 14th at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in care of Children's Assistive Technology Service (C.A.T.S.), Reachcycles (adaptive bicycles), or St. Pius X Catholic Church.

Joan was born on December 30, 1927 in Cascade, IA, a daughter of James and Irene (Kehoe) Lehner. She married Edward A. Lioen on September 16, 1950 in Davenport, IA. In earlier years, Joan worked for Davenport-Besler and then she was a supervisor at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company before becoming a homemaker to raise her 4 children.

Joan was a member of multiple Catholic churches over the years including Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Pius X, and St. John Vianney. She volunteered with many different organizations including Festival of Trees, Visiting Nurse Association, Trinity Medical Center Auxiliary, and Meals on Wheels.

Those left to cherish Joan's memory include her children, Mark Lioen and Therese (Jeffery) Bloom; grandchildren, Anna (Kwanza) Morgan, Michael (Stephanie) Lioen, Sarah (Sante) Piracci, David Bloom, and Thomas (Katie) Bloom; great-grandchildren, Anthony and Kalai Lioen, Kieran, Charlize, Ren, and Esmé Morgan, Michael, John, and Marian Piracci; and special family friend, Amy Larson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; children, David and Kevin Lioen; and parents, James and Irene Lehner.
