In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the family to establish a memorial fund at a later date. The family also asks that you take a moment to hug your family and friends, say a prayer and do what you love because time waits for no one.
JoAnn was born in Moline, Illinois on September 16, 1935, a daughter of Edward and Margaret "June" Hagerman Clark. She married Jerold "Jerry" Evins on September 25, 1953 in Rock Island, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 7, 1996.
JoAnn, known as "Gram" to all of her grandchildren, was an incredible matriarch. Taking care of her family was what she enjoyed most. It is not often that a grandparent has such a strong bond with so many of her grand- and great-grandchildren, but JoAnn did. Many were as close to her as her own children and she loved them all fiercely. Her door and her arms were always open and that's the way she preferred it. Though she was very stubborn and her favorite word was "no", she always found a way to provide for everyone around her. It was a guarantee that you would hear "where's your coat" on any given day, even when it was warm outside. She always put others needs before her own. She always surrounded herself with as much family as possible and would never let us forget it if she felt left out. She loved going to baseball games and spent many nights at the ball field with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. That was where she wanted to be until her very last days. One of the hardest parts of her illness was the physical limitations that prevented her from doing some of the things she loved. One thing we all know is that she would have been there if she could have. We all knew how much she loved us.
She is survived by her son, Brian (Nanette) Evins; daughters, Kathy Walker and Jody Vanderham; grandchildren, Jim (Monica) Allen, Deana (Kevin) Green, Mindy Evans, Tasha (Cory) Fredenburg, Shallon (Daniel) Richard, Jennifer Evins, Trisha (Eric) Zywicki, Kellie (Boyd) Morrissey, Christopher "Buddy" (Missy) Morrissey, Cody Evins, Dallas (Leon) McIntyre and Ricky (Taylor) Vanderham; and many great-grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerold, daughters, Gerry-Dee and Sherri, son, Clayton, grandson, Ryan, and her parents and siblings.
