JoAnn L. Mier, 93, of Joy, Illinois, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2024, Thanksgiving Day, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, December 6, 2024, at Buffalo Prairie Community Church, 20320 183rd Ave W, Reynolds, IL 61279. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, December 6, 2024, at the church. Burial will be in Buffalo Prairie Cemetery. Memorials may be left to Buffalo Prairie Community Church or Illinois City/Buffalo Prairie Volunteer Fire Department.

JoAnn was born on September 9, 1931 in Moline, IL, the daughter of Willett and Lura (Tyler) McGinnis. She graduated from Joy High School, Class of 1949. JoAnn married Albert C. Mier on March 4, 1950 in Kirkwood, IL.

JoAnn was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She worked on the farm with her husband. She loved to cook and mow her yard. She enjoyed having her family come to visit, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Buffalo Prairie Community Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses, Connie (Kenneth) White, Coal Valley, Cherie (Dennis) VanDaele, Milan, Michael (Kathy) Mier, Buffalo Prairie; 5 grandchildren , Christine (Jeremy) Busard, Mark (Amy) Van Daele, Amanda Van Daele, Whitney (Trent) Keever, Haley (Dan) Pitts; 5 great-grandchildren; and sister, Lynne Clark, Illinois City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Nancy Rursch.
