Obituary

Joann Tot, 67, Davenport, IA passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at her home. The family will be having a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at The Word Church. Private inurnment at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family

Joann was born on October 17, 1958, to Joe and Johnnie (Powell) Martin in Waterloo, Iowa. She grew up in the Rock Island and attended Rock Island High School.

Joann was united in marriage to Johnny “J.T.” Tot Jr. on July 10, 2016. The couple made their home in Davenport, where Joann devoted herself to being a homemaker and caring for her family. She was a mother figure to many, not just her own children, and was always willing to care for and help others. Family meant the world to Joann, and she especially adored her grandchildren.

Joann enjoyed cooking, sewing, and other crafts. She also loved to sing and frequently shared her voice at The Word Church, where she was an active member.

Joann will be greatly missed by her children, Travaris Rhoden, Bryan “Packy” Rhoden, and Tiyana Rhoden; grandchildren, Jovien Smith, Ashleyanna Rhoden, and Amacia Rogers; stepchildren, Johnny Tot II and Tameca Tot; stepmother, Katie Martin; siblings, Linda Hayes, Helen Jordan, Joe Martin Jr., Frank Martin, Tony Martin, Lorenzo (Ymesa) Martin, Johnie Matthews, Timothy Matthews, Carl Black, and Amy Matthews; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.T.; children, Henry Rhoden Jr. and Taurean Rhoden; and siblings, Allie Maye Martin Shell, Denice Watson, Janice Martin, Allison Matthews, and Kanisha Sanchez.
