M. Joanne Johnson, 94, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, at Hope Creek Rehabilitation and Care Center, East Moline. She was born on February 10, 1931, in Lone Tree, Iowa to Raymond and Mildred (Jarrard) Lutz. She married Laville "Polly" Johnson on September 17, 1946, in Nashua, IA. Joanne lived a life characterized by love, creativity, and devotion to her family and community.
Joanne found joy in cooking, baking, and decorating exquisite wedding cakes. She was very talented in crocheting, resulting in numerous treasured handmade gifts, which she lovingly shared with her family. A devoted member of Edgewood Baptist Church for over 40 years, Joanne's faith played a central role in her life, guiding her through both joyous and challenging times.
Joanne is survived by her beloved daughters, Jolene (Dwaine) MacDonald, Janette Johnson, and Janice Carpenter, and her son, Terry (Sheryl) Johnson. She will be deeply missed by her sister, Rosabell Wagoner, and her sister, Janet Bausch. Additionally, she leaves behind a legacy of love through her 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
Joanne's warmth, compassion, and unwavering spirit will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In honor of Joanne's life, a graveside service will be held at Edgington Cemetery on April 26, 2025, at 11:00 am. Memorials may be made to the Edgewood Baptist Church.
Joanne Johnson touched the lives of many and will be remembered for her boundless love, kindness, and devotion to her family and faith. May she rest in peace.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Laville; grandson, Kevin Johnson; and son-in-law, Mike Carpenter.
