Joe Kimmins Jr., 92, of Rock Island, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 12, 2021, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family.

Joe was born on November 13, 1928, in Pulaski, Illinois. He married Margaret Coleman-Dear and worked many years in the McLaughlin Body Shop. Joe was a member of Olivet Baptist Church in Rock Island, where he served as an usher, sang in the choir, drove the church bus, and was in the men's club. He loved vehicles and spent a lot of time tinkering with them. Joe also enjoyed spending time outdoors and camping.

Those left to cherish Joe's memory include his wife, Margaret; children, Wilma Arrington, Shelva Kimmins, Glen Kimmins, Ruth Kimmins, and Kermevia White; stepchildren, Janet Cooper, Curtis Mitchell, Willie Mitchell, Velma Smith, Linda Cox, Erma Scott, and Terry Dear; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian; second wife, Marguerite; parents; sons, Ronald and Stanley Kimmins; son-in-law, Joseph Arrington Jr.; 7 brothers; and 1 sister.
